The district's sole school building was constructed in the late 1800s to educate the children of the farm families that inhabited Lake County at the time; when the surrounding regions industrialized, the student body reached District 72's maximum capacity; in 1917, and a new building was constructed on Bradley Road to accommodate the new students. Since 1917, several other additions expanded the district's facilities. The most recent addition was completed in 2009.
